Sapphire
Historically Sapphires have been associated with the Heavens. It was very popular in Medieval Europe, where it was worn by royalty. In the Middle Ages, it was thought to protect people from evil thoughts, and was used as a talisman. Said to be a stone of prosperity. Once worn as a talisman to ward off illness or for protection during travel, also in the Middle ages sapphires were thought to ward off evil thoughts. Used to help eliminate frustration and fulfill dreams. Enhances intuition, promotes clear thinking and helps decrease depression. Used in meditation.
Healing lore: fever, inflammation, chronic fatigue.
Sardonyx (Agate)
Used by the Egyptians for scarabs, which they wore as protective talismans. Used as a healing stone in the Middle Ages. In Renaissance Europe, it was believed that wearing Sardonyx made one more eloquent. Said to be used for protection and strength, especially for marriage and love relationships. Said to attract good fortune and friends, alleviate depression, and invigorate the senses. Increases courage and self-confidence. Healing lore: lungs, immune system, bones.
Serpentine (New Jade)
Historically, Serpentine amulets were worn to protect against snakebites and poisoning. Serpentine as been used in jewelry and ornaments for thousands of years. Excellent for meditation. Helps the wearer to attain inner peace, and helps to attract success, love and money. Useful for increasing psychic powers.
Healing lore: sexual problems, stomach illness, PMS, cramps, mood swings and menstrual pain, tension relief.
Silver (mineral)
Used throughout history for coinage (as early as 800 B.C.), ornamental metalwork, and jewelry. Silver gained great popularity with the fine craftsmanship of the Renaissance period. The common phrase 'born with a silver spoon in her mouth' refers not to wealth, as commonly thought, but to health. It was found that babies fed with silver spoons (as opposed to spoons made from other metals) during the early 18th century were healthier. Said to be used to enhance psychic abilities and to strengthen intuition. Thought to attract grace and eloquence and to improve speech. Smoky Quartz
Sacred to the druids. Known as a powerful stone of transformation and endurance. It is said to be a grounding and stabilizing stone that can store energy, amplify it, focus it, transmit it, transform it, balance it and absorb it. It is said to bring calmness, lift depression, enhance practicality, and generally remove negative energies, bringing happiness. It's a good luck stone. Also used for physical protection, protection from negativity, and psychic protection. Snowflake Obsidian
Said to gently bring issues to the surface; both positive and negative, and promote ease and balance when making change. Helps protect against negativity and is known as a stone of peace and serenity. Protects the wearer from emotional and physical harm. Healing lore: eye and skin conditions, bones, spine, back pain, emotional issues.
Sodalite
Sometimes called the Wisdom Stone, it is said to enhance concentration and understanding. Used to give courage and increase logic, and promote honesty of emotions. Healing lore: glands, digestive system, insomnia and other sleep troubles.
Spinel
Used by ancient mariners for navigation. Prized for its attractive energetic qualities; to attract money and prosperity, increase intellectual power, and lessen stress. Said to promote peacefulness. Sunstone
